Street Art

A few nights ago we watched Exit Through The Gift Shop. It features Banksy, a widely known street artist. You probably recognize this image:

or this one!

That’s him. It also features an interesting filmmaker who isn’t really a filmmaker. He just constantly documented his life and happened to start following around street artists to document them as they created their pieces. He was able to gain their trust and, in turn, gave us a great glimpse into the world of street art. I’m sure some people are divided on the idea. Maybe they have a problem with the fact that it’s illegal and is considered destruction of property. I’m not in that camp. I look at street art in a different light. I consider tagging destruction of property. Names and gang symbols and the like are not art, to me. What these artists do though is. Here are some really great examples of street art that I love

There are also some really great examples of craft bombing out there:

What are your views on street art and craft bombing? Do you think they’re different from one another or the same? What are your takes on the legality of it all? I would love to hear your opinions on this subject!

Ho-lee-shnit. I just spent hours writing up a post about street art/graffiti/craft bombing/guerrilla gardening/eco graffiti. Now I guess I don’t need to post it 🙂 It’s crazy that we were both on the same page at the same time with this!
